OUR LADY CHURCH OF THE SEVEN SORROWS
Church full of history in Steenwerck, also called reliquary of popular fervor with its many statues of saints.
This church has an unusual history. In 1850, the hamlet had no church. The inhabitants managed to get a piece of land and the money for the construction of the building. However, they still could not get a priest. They had to threaten to ask for a Protestant pastor before the archbishop of Cambrai would finally grant them a priest. The building is called the Reliquary of Popular Fervour, because no less than twenty-seven saints have their own statue in the church.
