PLACE DU NEUF-BOURG
A small square surrounded by beautiful facades of 18th century houses, a privileged walking area in the heart of Valenciennes.
It is a small square that you could come across by chance, depending on your visit to the city of Valenciennes. Surrounded by beautiful facades of 18th century houses, the recently remodelled Square du Neuf-Bourg offers a privileged walking area, between the garden decorations and the view of the spire of Saint-Géry's church.
The place was once home to the wool cloth weaving business, which until the 18th century earned it the name of Place du Marché au Filet. Then it took the name of Place du Neuf-Bourg, which referred to this new district developing north of the city centre, itself called Grand-Bourg.
Today this unique place has been transformed into a small haven of peace in the heart of Valenciennes. Sometimes, you may meet some artists looking for inspiration!
