SAINT-GILLES CHURCH
This church is remarkable for its massive tower-porch dating from the century.
Watten, located between Flanders and Artois, has many arguments to attract the visitor. Among these, the church of Saint-Gilles is one of the most important. Remarkable for its 15th century bell tower-porch (listed as a Historic Monument since 1984) rising on six levels and made of red bricks, important restoration works took place between 2007 and 2021 to give a second youth to this place of worship. Inside, don't miss the amazing stained glass windows, which give a unique character to the church. Worth the detour!
