THE TOWER OF THE ABBEY
Tower located in Watten, offering a striking panorama on Flanders and Audomarois.
In the 11th century, along the Roman road, the monk Alphume built a chapel dedicated to Saint Riquier, transformed a few years later into an abbey by the priest Olfride. Only the imposing tower remains, which can be visited occasionally. Moreover, the site itself is now classified. The view from the top (easily accessible via an interpretation path) offers a breathtaking panorama of Flanders and the Audomarois: go and admire it with your own eyes the next time you are in the Watten area!
