FÊTE DES NIAFS
Before presenting this carnival which is among the most popular in the region, we must first recall the origin of the word "niafs". This nickname or "name discarded" was given to the inhabitants of Agny by the surrounding villages and refers to one of the most represented occupations in the city. Indeed, niaf or ch in picard means… the shoemaker! So the Feast of the Niafs celebrates every year this charming alias and all the traditions attached to it! The festivities start on Saturday with a great contest of bowls, and the race of the boys of coffee. On Sunday, a great day of joy, it is sell-out-flea in the morning and the organ of the party, the fantastical parade where Fish fish in their most beautiful costumes. There are troops of dancers and street artists from around the world moving through harmonies and bands and around the city giants, Florine and Théophile du Crinchon. On Monday, a tea dancing with orchestra closes this festive weekend, which brings together every year in Agny nearly ten thousand visitors.
