SENTIER DU MARAIS

The marsh trail will allow you to discover the city crossed by La Lys which flows into the Scheldt and three of its tributaries: La, La and Lacquette. This 9 k hike (approximately 3 h) leads you to the marshes, ponds and groves surrounding the city. As a man, they are now dedicated to fishing as well as to the observation of wildlife and flora. The return by the city centre makes it possible to approach history. At the borders of Artois and Flanders, Aire was fortified around 1200, in the sixteenth century by Charles Quint and finally around 1700 by Vauban, leaving many remains to discover: doors, powder, bastions, barracks…
