The house, located in Arras, houses a permanent exhibition retracing the life of Robespierre.
A leading figure in Arras, where he was born and practiced law like his father and grandfather, Maximilien Robespierre lived in this house from 1787 to 1789, on the eve of the French Revolution, with his sister Charlotte and brother Augustin. He wrote the pre-Revolutionary texts known to him here, before leaving for Versailles as a deputy of the Third Estate. Dating from 1730 and fully restored by the Compagnons du Devoir et du Tour de France, the house houses a permanent exhibition retracing the life of Robespierre and the history of the Compagnons.
