THE CHURCH
A church with beautiful golden ashlars and a single, pillarless nave in Ainhoa.
Robust and elegant, the church dominates the village. Transformed over the centuries, the church's beautiful gilded ashlars and interior features a single, pillarless nave covered with a wood-panelled roof and two storeys of galleries, typical of Labourdine churches. In the cemetery, you'll see traditional tombs with discoidal or tabular stelae. It is said that it was at the foot of this church that Pierre Loti found the inspiration for the hero of his famous Basque novel Ramuntcho.
