BUTTER HOUSE
This house shows how a seafaring family lived in the last century.
This 1870 fishermen's house, at the top of a staircase street in the old typical Boulonnais fishermen's quarter, shows the habitat of a family of sailors as it was in the last century. At the time, 13,000 fishermen and their families lived in the Beurière district, from the word "bure" which means fisherman's hut in patois. Their way of life is retraced through furniture and objects recovered over the years. Engravings, photos and costumes also help to tell their story, during a 45-minute guided tour.
