Iconic witness of the mining past of the department, the city of the electricians is today a major cultural place.
This housing estate, built between 1856 and 1861, is one of the oldest and most representative of what the "corons" were. Designed to house the miners of the Bruay No. 2 pit, it still has a line of "voyettes" (alleys), "carins" (outbuildings) and small gardens, just like in the 19th century. You will find there exhibitions and workshops. Thanks to its exceptional state of preservation, the Cité des Électriciens is one of the main sites listed as part of the Nord-Pas-de-Calais mining basin's Unesco World Heritage Site!
