An institution in Calais and a widely acclaimed address. Kindness and professionalism characterise Le café du Minck, run by Lolo and Mimi, in the heart of the Courgain Maritime. At aperitif time, the place is particularly convivial and appreciated for its toasts with pâté and other sausages, served by Lo, the owner. But the surprise of the house is the chien de mer (sea dog) served with your little glass of rosé, from June to September. This species of shark, fished by Calaisian boats, is dried and peppered, then the room is hung on the café door! In terms of entertainment, the Beaujolais evenings - served with smoked herring - are moments of anthology of Calaisian life. Le café du Minck is much more than just a neighbourhood bistro.
