MÉDIATHÈQUE LOUIS ARAGON
Since 1987, the media library has been housed in a former lace factory between the town hall and the Cité internationale de la Dentelle et de la Mode. Open to all for almost 40 hours a week, over 150,000 people use the library every year. A true living space, it is open to all, free of charge, for learning, understanding, information, entertainment, discovery and dreams... The space is large and bright, divided by theme: comics, fashion and decoration, practical books, fantasy or thrillers, with subscriptions to specialized newspapers and magazines in each sector. With 120,000 books, 15,000 CDs, 8,000 DVDs and 200 magazine titles, there's something for every taste, from the most frivolous to the most intellectual. The children's corner is upstairs. The catalog of available books can be consulted on the library's website. Loan and return of documents is managed by users themselves, thanks to easy-to-use automatic loan/return terminals. Users can also return their items outside library opening hours, thanks to an automatic return system available 24/7. Regular events take place on the premises, including story readings for children, literary and musical performances and meetings, and documentary and animation screenings. The program is available on the website. The public reading network is complemented by a branch library in the Beau Marais district, a mediabus and a beach library open in July and August.
