MONUMENT CHARLES DE GAULLE / YVONNE VENDROUX
A monument retracing the personal history of Yvonne and Charles de Gaulle, which stands on the Place d'Armes in Calais.
Calais is part of the personal history of General de Gaulle. It was in 1921, in the church of Notre-Dame, that he married the Calaisian Yvonne Vendroux. The city will remain dear to their hearts. The general returned there officially on two occasions in 1959 and 1966, unofficially much more often! An association has had a stele engraved next to the building where he was married. The monumental sculpture of Yvonne and Charles de Gaulle located on the Place d'Armes was erected at the end of 2013.
