VILLE FLEURIE

The flowered city of Calais won three flowers at the flowered towns and villages contest. The town counts 120 acres of parkland, two parks, the urban park of Fort Nieulay, the Promenade des Squares and more than one thousand trees in every district. A total of 260,000 flowers and plants are grown in greenhouses each year before beautifying the city. Calais offers notably visible short-lived gardens on the Place du Soldat Inconnu in front of the town hall. They are mobile gardens, flowery benches and ferry orange groves that change with the seasons to the delight of walkers.
