SAINT LEON'S CHURCH
Church to admire the recent stained glass windows of the master glass artist Charles Carrère, disciple of Jean Lesquibe in Anglet
The prettiest and most charming: you must enter to admire the recent stained glass windows by the Anglo-Saxon master glass artist Charles Carrère, a disciple of Jean Lesquibe (1910-1995). Approach the choir and the transept, and admire the techniques of cutting and construction (with lead or glass slabs). First built in the 12th century, on the banks of the Nive, on the site of the martyrdom of Saint Leo, it was rebuilt in the 16th century, stone by stone, on this spot and was transformed over the centuries with additional galleries in the 17th and 18th centuries. A visit is not to be missed.
