CAVE OF THE LOVE CHAMBER
Cave of the Chambre d'Amour where Saubade and Laorens hid in the 17th century and were drowned after the ocean swallowed them up
A drama of the heart... this is what gave its name to the beautiful and sad legend of the Chambre d'Amour. That of the two lovers Saubade and Laorens of different social condition who, in the XVIIth century, hid there to love each other, and that the ocean swallowed them in a cave of the Cap-Saint-Martin (under the lighthouse of Biarritz). They were found the next day, embraced but drowned. This sacred place in the cliffs became the cave of the Chambre d'Amour! Not to be missed, like the Rocher de la Vierge.
