THE CHURCH OF ST. BERTULPHUS

This church dates back to the end of the th century, although built on the location of the old building, which is too long to be restored. In 1877, the date of its new inauguration, the new church was finally going to be able to resume service, despite the constant repairs and renovations that took place throughout the late th and early th centuries. Yet, despite these setbacks, the famous bell had to remain and would become the symbol of the building. Consecrated in 1749 by Father Jean Ebrard, the Bertulphine Robertine dates back to 1604 and continues his office today after certainly a great deal of repair. It is interesting to visit the church and read the inscription engraved on the bell - reproduced on paper! The giant linden wooden statues of Sainte-Monique and Saint-Augustin, remains of Sainte-Marie-au-Bois Abbey, are listed in the Inventory of Classified Movable objects.
