THE SLAG HEAPS OF THE COUNTRY APART
The twin slag heaps of Haillicourt, Maisnil-lez-Ruitz and Ruitz, a playground for nature and the Eden 62 association.
Stretching over the three communes of Haillicourt, Maisnil-lez-Ruitz and Ruitz, these twin slag heaps are among the most imposing in the region. Built in 1953 and 1964 and composed of a heap of useless materials mixed with coal during its extraction in the pits of pit 6 located not far from there, the two slagheaps are today the playground of the Eden 62 association. Their objective? To reinvest the slag heaps and make them places to walk and discover nature!
