THE VALLEY OF BARÉTOUS
The Barétous valley, asserting its originality and specific features in Arette
Originally, until the 13th century, this stretch of mountain was simply a district of the Vallée d'Aspe. Its development didn't begin until Guillaume de Moncade granted Barétous special rights, including immense forests and high hills. Today, the valley is proud of its originality and unique characteristics. This story is told not only in the valley itself, but also in the village church, which has been rebuilt exactly as it was. The Barétous valley is a magnificent place with breathtaking scenery!
