LA COLLÉGIALE SAINT-OMER
The largest Romanesque building north of Paris, a collegiate church built in honor of Saint Omer in Lillers.
This collegiate church built during the first half of the 12th century is the largest Romanesque building north of Paris. A lord of Lillers decided, following a pilgrimage to Rome and an audience with the Pope, to build this collegiate church in honour of Saint Omer. There is an ambulatory choir, three chapels, a central tower and woodwork dating from the 18th century in the choir. It contains magnificent furniture, paintings and one of the jewels of Romanesque art: The Christ of the Holy Blood Miracle, a wooden Christ from the 12th century.
