THE BIRD SALIGUE - ARTIX LAKE
A saligue refers to the moist afforestation of the edges of the Pau shed where willows abound. Artix is first a dam lake and it is a marker for all ornithologists. Every year rare bird observations are possible, including new migratory species in France which take one of the main migration routes across the Pyrenees. In addition, it houses a breeding site. There are wedding parades of grebes @ in particular. This is also the niche of the walker heron (little grey blue heron in France). A circuit allows you to cross the lake and observe from different points the inhabitants of this expanse of water. The fishermen include the osprey, many ducks, including scaup, teal and snipe and more classical pêcheurs, geese and swans. This space has been classified by the Ministry of Ecology and Sustainable Development Natura 2000 area due to the presence of species subject to special conservation (this classification relates to the lake as well as the entire basin of the Pau gave from Lacq to Artiguelouve).
