MONTREUIL-SUR-MER CITADEL
Castle then military citadel, it is now an exhibition site and Natura 2000 area. To see: its famous catapult.
The citadel was built in the 16th century, with the original gateway and towers. An exhibition in the chapel traces the history of the commune. The site boasts a medieval war machine, "la bricole". The citadel, classified as a Natura 2000 zone, is a hibernation and reproduction site for bats, with a dedicated exhibition in cooperation with the Conservatoire d'Espaces Naturels. Last but not least, a night-time show takes place in summer: Les Misérables.
