THE MILL OF GAROS
The Mill of Garos, a monument in the middle of nature where you can buy flour in Arzacq-Arraziguet.
The Garos mill has never really stopped working. It was in operation until 1966 to produce baker's flour. André Rey, a retired miller, took several years to repair the structure and finally opened it to the public at the request of the Arzacq tourist office. The visit lasts one hour and retraces the history of the mill, its operation, the techniques of working wheat, the history of the miller's trade. On site, you can buy flour, visit a small museum of old-fashioned agricultural tools or walk along the canal to the Luy de France river, picnic by the water under century-old trees. This monument is in the heart of nature, far from everything, between green hills where silence reigns. It is a very relaxing setting for a walk. In summer, and throughout the year for schoolchildren, activities are organised (dough kneading workshop, country meal, craftsmen's market...). In 2005, André Rey received the Bronze Medal for Tourism, a prize that attests to the quality of this visit. A beautiful conversion!
