THE MAIN SQUARE AND THE TOWN HALL
The Grand-Place, or Place du Maréchal Foch, has been home to Saint-Omer's main market every Saturday since the Middle Ages.
This splendid square has been the site of Saint-Omer's main market every Saturday since the Middle Ages. And the former town hall is now the town's theater. It was closed in 1973 and reopened to the public in 2018 for tours and shows. The yellow-brick seal building is a testament to the Flemish influence in Audomar architecture. The communal seal was kept here. The former bailliage, built in 1786, was the seat of royal jurisdiction.
