NOTRE-DAME ABBEY
Benedictine abbey for women, in neo-gothic style, open to women who would like to learn about monastic retreats.
A Benedictine abbey for women, this building is the female counterpart of the city's Saint Paul's Abbey. It was founded in 1889 and was built by Paul Vilain, in a neo-gothic style. It still houses about twenty nuns whose daily tasks are prayer, work, lectio divina (reading and reflection from the Holy Scriptures), collective life, all in a respectful and meditative silence. It is regularly open to women who would like to be initiated into monastic retreats!
