A historic quarry 3 km from Châteaubriant, where 27 hostages were shot by the German army on October 22, 1941.
The Sablière site is located 3 km from Châteaubriant, on the road to Laval. A major place of remembrance linked to the Resistance during the Second World War, the Vichy regime organised several internment camps there for political opponents, resistance fighters and minorities. The largest of them is located on the Choisel racetrack. On 22 October 1941, 27 hostages, including Guy Môquet, were shot by the German army, on the orders of the Führer, in reprisal for the death of the Feldkommandant of Nantes, Karl Hotz, killed by young French resistance fighters.
