THE DAREAU LOCK
Go there and contact
The Dareau lock is a hydraulic structure built around 1824
By bike, take rue des Bergeronnettes and keep going straight ahead, entering the lane, passing the houses and taking the road on the right. At the stop sign, turn left onto rue de la Censive. Continue straight on for a kilometer to the Arche du Dareau and the Fouchard shipyard, a wooden boat builder. The Dareau lock was built around 1824. This hydraulic structure is very important for managing water levels. It prevents the water level from rising in winter, while at the same time allowing the fresh water of the Loire to enter through tidal flooding.
