It has established communications, reduced the operating costs of the Gâvre forest, facilitated the clearing of landes and greatly contributed to the department's agricultural progress. Its vocation is now mainly tourism. Its locks offer nautical stops and its well-equipped dikes are ideal for walking, cycling or horse riding.
