CASTLE OF THE MOTTE-GLAIN
This majestic, imposing and elegant castle is located 1 km south of the Chapelle-Glain commune. It was reconstructed late xve xlife by Pierre de Rohan, on the old establishment of a fortress, advanced sentinel of the Marches of Brittany facing the neighboring Anjou. The building was privileged to receive the visit of several queens and kings of France. In 1497 it was Charles VIII and Anne of Brittany then in 1565, Charles IX and Catherine de Médicis were welcomed to the castle. It is accessed by a wide avenue of more than one kilometer and lined with wood and ponds forming a romantic framework. Architecture and decoration are inspired by medieval periods and Renaissance. An exhibition dedicated to naturalized animals is visitable, as is the inner courtyard, while the rest of the castle is private.
