Wine bar with a covered terrace offering fresh local products in a warm atmosphere.
We know about Karafe and its reputation as a wine bar. But on Friday and Saturday lunchtime, in principle, you can now also have lunch there. Royally installed on the quays of the Nive river, we appreciate this intimate space with a small stone-walled room in front of the bar, a few high tables and a covered and heated terrace in winter. It's an invitation to choose pintxos, classic or Spanish, before discovering the house specialities such as boards of cold meats and cheese. You can enjoy the Ttipi Burgers: the Jamon'burger with suckling pig, porcini mushrooms, Jabugo ham, walnut bread, the Bask'de luxe with Basque lamb, feta cheese, zucchini, cereal bread... Home-made tapas while tasting wines and champagnes within reach of the counter! Fresh and local products mainly in a warm atmosphere. It is also a tasting school, as introductory courses are scheduled throughout the year.

The wines were also very surprising. A small wine list showed some good options and after the first wine, we were invited to look at the "wine cellar" behind the bar in order to a new bottle and were very happy with the suggestions and possibilities.
Staff was very friendly and some spoke English as well.
Would definitely recommend and if we would have stayed longer in Bayonne we would definitely have returned.
