OFFICE DE TOURISME DE BAYONNE
Bayonne Tourist Office, offering all the information necessary to spend a pleasant vacation in this city.
Located in the heart of the city, the Bayonne Tourist Office provides you with all the information you need to spend a pleasant vacation in this city classified as a City of Art and History since 2011. In the new, contemporary building, the team will provide you with all the practical information you need and answer all your queries: monuments to visit, restaurants to try, typical bars, gourmet addresses, accommodation... Bayonne is a destination renowned for its cultural heritage, its strong traditions, its "Fêtes" and its joie de vivre... It's a not-to-be-missed stopover during your stay in the Basque Country. Between art and history, discover the Gothic cathedral of Notre-Dame de Bayonne and the city's many art craftsmen. Meet the Bayonne locals at the Foire au Jambon (ham fair) and the "Bayonne fête son chocolat" (Bayonne celebrates its chocolate) for a convivial bath... and delicious treats! You'll also find a pretty souvenir store (exclusive Fêtes de Bayonne and Roi Léon collections, local products, crockery, books, etc.), as well as a ticketing/reservation service for concerts, shows, tickets for rugby matches, sites, activities, accommodation and more. Several guided tours are offered by the Tourist Office, according to a quarterly calendar, on varying themes, with some great classics:
"Chocolat gourmand à Bayonne": with a chocolate, discover the places that have marked the city's chocolate-making history, from the 17th century to the present day.
"Bayonne en 60 minutes": get to know the city on a stroll through the old town, from the quays to the fortifications, via the cathedral district.
"Behind the facades": the guide will take you behind the scenes of Bayonne's old town, one of the densest in France. You'll discover and admire private mansions, inner courtyards and recently renovated stairwells... You'll appreciate the challenges of a Remarkable Heritage Site, the new name for the Protected Area.
Themed tours: 1h tour (€7/person); tours from 1h30 to 2h (€9/person, free for children under 12).
Gourmet tours: €12/person and €5 for under-12s. Meeting places vary according to theme (see "Rendez-vous" brochure for details).
