Unique in France, discover the Hermione adventure in the port of Bayonne in the Basque Country!
A replica of a jewel in France's maritime history, the Hermione shipyard is one of the must-see tourist attractions on the Basque coast.
A visit to the ship, currently undergoing a major refit in Anglet, will enable you to discover its history and unique architecture. You can explore its two upper decks and learn how its cannons work. On the quayside, an exhibition (300m² museum space) will plunge you into the world of this 18th century replica, and you'll pass through the workshops where craftsmen work to restore the frigate.
In 2024, L'Hermione will be present year-round in the port of Bayonne in Anglet.
Two options are available:
- The self-guided tour will enable you to discover the history of L'Hermione, her many adventures and the associative project behind her. You'll also have access to the first two decks of the ship.
- Guided tours invite you to see even more, with a choice of two different guided tours (1h30 each) to satisfy your curiosity and access more areas of the ship.
THE DISCOVERY & HISTORY TOUR
This tour provides an in-depth understanding of the ship's extraordinary refit, due to start in autumn 2021. Descend to the bottom of the dry dock, where repair work is carried out. This is an exceptional visit: it's the first time since the frigate has sailed that we've been able to get close to the usually submerged part of her hull!
THE GRAND CARÉNAGE GUIDED TOUR
The guide invites you to immerse yourself in the history of the frigate, the challenges of its 17-year construction in Rochefort (Charente-Maritime), its voyages and its major refit. Access to the upper deck and crew dormitories below the battery deck.
Guided tours for children aged 6 and over. We advise you tobook your tickets at least 24 hours in advance.
