LA CAVE SAINT-BERNARD
An address like we love them! A multiple place, both cellar and wine bar, full of friendliness and good humour. Located on the church square, the Saint-Bernard cellar is a little bit the nerve centre of the life of the monasteries (the inhabitants of Moutiers-en-Retz) and tourists in season. And it is a place of perpetual life, summer and winter alike, the terrace being equipped with heated parasols. You can enjoy a good glass of owner-grower's wine, accompanied by a plate of pork, terrines, tapas or regional cheeses (such as the tomme de Bourgneuf en Retz). It must be said that the bonhommie of its creator, Bernard, inexhaustible on wines, attracts epicureans. We like the guinguette atmosphere that prevails here during the theme evenings, organized every two weeks in summer, just like a "ham on the bone" evening, concocted by the local butcher. The atmosphere of the old-fashioned bistros reigns here. On the cellar side, about 180 references of wines from all the vineyards, including the wines of Jean-Marc Ferré, the last winegrower of the Moutiers, champagnes, rums, whiskys, but also Belgian beers, to drink on site or to take away. A must have!
