Italian cuisine in Nantes, concocted by the Luigi family in a restaurant in Nantes.
Opened over 42 years ago, La Pasta is one of the best ambassadors of Italian cuisine in the Nantes region. Prepared by Anne-Gaëlle, her parents, Luigi, aka Gi, and Anna-Maria, the menu is an anthology of specialties imported directly from the boot, more specifically from the Puglia region, with pasta as the central element, primi piatti. Depending on your tastes and desires, you can add porcini mushrooms, pancetta, olive oil, cream, tomatoes or almost anything else you like. There's no pizza here, just focaccia, a de luxe substitute for delicious pasta that's always well-stocked. The dish of the day is always magnificent, and it's best not to arrive at the end of the service, as there's never any left. Try also the antipasti, piatti unici (bocconcini with chianti, alla Marsala, cheese or escalope milanese), and desserts like the tiramisu, which is a real knockout, only to bounce back with the panna cotta. The setting isn't striking, the space rather limited, but the plate makes up for it all, hands down! Barely an hour at the table and the owner is already talking about her grandchildren, making you feel like part of the family. Warm, courteous, typical, tasty - there's no shortage of adjectives to describe this restaurant, which would make an ideal second home.
