L'ÉPICURIEN RESTAURANT
An address offering traditional cuisine and excellent value for money.
Located in the Nantes Est Entreprises area, a stone's throw from the Route de Paris and close to La Beaujoire, L'Épicurien is the ideal place for a gourmet break. Open weekdays for lunch, it offers excellent value for money. The atmosphere is guaranteed, thanks to the professionalism of owner Olivier (originally from Ch'ti) and the attentiveness of his smiling team. The pretty, spacious dining room (on one level) lets in plenty of natural light. On fine days, and for most of the year, you can enjoy the restaurant's gourmet moments on its quiet outdoor terrace. L'Épicurien lives up to its name with generous, well-crafted dishes. The cuisine is traditional. The daily menu on the slate is affordable, with, for example, the chef's terrine, a shrimp cassolette with curry and coconut, a salmon tartar with mango knife or a Greek salad in a verrine. Main courses include linguine cod tail, hake fillet (a fish every day) with vegetables, filet mignon de cochon façon charcutière, real horse steak with Belgian fries and the dessert of the day. In addition to these formulas, the menu features generous salads that double as meals: the Caesar, the Royale, the Queen Epicure... Grilled meats are another specialty at L'Épicurien! Meat is presented in a refrigerated display case, just like at the butcher's, before being cooked. Fans can opt for entrecôte maître d'hôtel, prime rib (for 2), filet de châteaubriant, beef tartar (with knife), duck (magret), offal, muscadet sausage or andouillette. Also on the menu is beef carpaccio, also by the knife. Still room for dessert? A café gourmand? An apple tart? A cheese platter? It's all possible. This somewhat "hidden" restaurant is well worth the detour. Reservations are advisable, as the address is becoming well known. Groups and seminars are also well catered for. A fine wine list is also available! Epicure or nothing!
