UNACOD, the Nantes Retail Union, was founded in 1967. Today, it brings together 54 associations of shopkeepers and craftsmen in the districts of Nantes and represents some 900 shopkeepers! In other words, it is a major player in the economic and social life of Nantes. Chaired by Richard Gouraud, an optician from Nantes, the organisation therefore pursues the ambition to represent and defend the interests of local shops. But it is also the illumination of the city's neighbourhoods at Christmas, the animation of the neighbourhoods throughout the year, as well as the transmission of the passion of these professionals for their jobs and their know-how to young people in schools.
