SONANTES – LA MONNAIE LOCALE NANTAISE
Launched in spring 2015 by Johanna Rolland, Mayor of Nantes, SoNantes is a currency for local use. This currency is managed by the association La Sonantaise. It is complementary to the euro, and exists only in digital form, translated and accounted for using a magnetic card - a bit like an electronic wallet. Its exchange rate is simple because a SoNantes equals a euro. The idea is: favouring the local economy and real, developing short circuits, promoting and developing regional exchanges, giving meaning to the regional economy. SoNantes is intended for individuals, but also for professionals. His way of employment is simple. To open an account, you must be a major and resident of the Nantes region. Then, simply connect online at the site: www.sonantes.fr. For individuals, the procedure consists of converting euros into SoNantes; for professionals, the account has an amount of exchange between a spending threshold and a ceiling of cash receipts. All the public are likely to use this local currency: private and professional sectors of the public, private and solidarity economy. As a matter of fact, the member companies are listed in a dedicated directory and are géolocalisées. Good plans are offered to members with preferential rates by paying with Sonantes. The Association La has its headquarters at the Municipal credit Centre Nantes, a public body; a guarantee for the ambassadors of this citizen's currency.
