SAINT-PIERRE AND SAINT-PAUL CATHEDRAL
Flamboyant Gothic cathedral where François II and Marguerite de Foix lie in a black, white and pink marble tomb.
The cathedral rises into the sky above Nantes, proudly displaying its flamboyant Gothic style and the extraordinary subtlety of its detailing. The first stone was laid in 1434, but it wasn't completed until 1891. In 2020, a fire destroyed the great organ, the stalls and the glass roof. Although the cathedral is currently closed for major renovation work, it remains majestic from the outside. Completion is scheduled for 2028. The partial reopening of Nantes Cathedral is scheduled for September 2025.
