BASILIQUE SAINT NICOLAS
This basilica, nestled between Place Royale and Rue du Calvaire, is massive and chiseled in a neo-gothic style
Nestled between Place Royale and Rue du Calvaire, Saint-Nicolas rises in a massive, chiselled neo-Gothic style. The building was constructed in three stages between 1844 and 1869 by architects Jean-Baptiste Lassus, Henri-Théodore Driollet and Gustave de Bourgerel, and became a basilica in 1882. The esplanade was completely renovated in 2017, making it a pleasant place to pass between terraces and small boutiques. Its dimensions are impressive: 86 meters long, 32 meters wide, 24 meters high under the vaults, 100 meters high for the spire.
