Nantes art museum, home to all forms of creation, from ancient art to contemporary art and photography.
Located in the heart of the city, between the cathedral and the Jardin des plantes, the Musée d'arts de Nantes is a major reference in the French museum landscape. It is one of the few fine arts museums to continually enrich its collections with works by living artists. A place to meet, stroll and contemplate, it displays its extensive collection in the sumptuous spaces of the 19th-century Palais and the recently enlarged Contemporary Cube. It is one of the few French museums to have enriched its collections with works by living artists since its creation in 1801. Thanks to this ongoing curiosity about the art of its time, the collection offers a broad panorama of creation, from ancient art to contemporary art, via the 19th century and modern art. It offers a complete museographic tour, with over 900 works in paintings, sculptures, photographs, videos and installations, ranging from ancient to contemporary art. There are many internationally renowned masterpieces to discover, including works by Le Pérugin, La Tour, Ingres, Delacroix, Courbet, Monet, Picasso, Kandinsky, Soulages and Kapoor... Last but not least, there's a bookshop-boutique and the Café du musée: a bistronomic address for lunch, coffee or a snack in this prestigious setting. And don't forget that the museum can also be reserved for private events. A place not to be missed!
