In a sober setting between cut stones and modern woodwork, the Conservatoire des vieux métiers, located on Chemin de Saint-Opportune just next to the washhouse, has 1,500 m² of exhibition space. The clever and inventive staging reminds visitors of the atmosphere of life in the past. Every year, on August 15th, the Bread Festival takes place in the bread oven, a 1900 model inaugurated in 2003.

Le 15 août c'est la fête du pain sur le site à saint père en retz.
Le pain est cuit au feu de bois. Il y a des animations autour du four à pain, des stands d'artisanat, buvette, crêpes et grillades à partir de 19h.
Le tout dans une ambiance sympathique.
Il a fallu attendre un bon moment au gré des fournées pour profiter du pain car il part très vite.
