BIARRITZ LIGHTHOUSE
The lighthouse overlooks Cap Hainsart, named after the oak trees that once surrounded it, now replaced by tamarisk
Erected in 1834, 73 metres above sea level and proud of its 248 steps, the lighthouse dominates Cap Hainsart, named after the oak trees that once surrounded it, now replaced by tamarisk. This cape marks the boundary between the sandy coast of the Landes and the rocky coast of the Basque Country. It is equipped with a dioptric lantern and vintage Fresnel lenses. You can visit the building with full explanations of its construction, and the 360° panoramic view of the city is exceptional. A guinguette awaits you at its foot.
