Overlooking the thundering Nive, the church of Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption is located in the charming village of Bidarray. Romanesque in style, it is one of the oldest campenard churches (bell tower-wall in front) in this part of France. Its origins go back to the XIIth century. Classified as a historical monument with its cemetery next to the church, it has been transformed over the centuries and no longer has the appearance of the medieval chapel originally built.
