ST. MARY'S CHURCH
The first church was such a bad general state that it was moved and rebuilt back in 1874. Despite its porch and its vaulted nef of five-spelled arcades with broken arcades, it has no remarkable architectural particularity. It's a beautiful building, classic shape seen from the outside. However, the interior is very interesting. Indeed, it houses the most beautiful creations of the painter René-Marie Castaing, winner of the Grand Prix of Rome. He decorated this place from 1930 to 1936 with twenty-eight shimmered paintings of large size. The evolution of his style can be judged by looking at the different panels, some of which display very different techniques, including the fresco of the Cross of the Cross by the artist's brother. You can admire religious representations (the Coronation of the Virgin, the Creation of the World, the Resurrection of the flesh…), but also some more secular in the representations of Saint-Magne, with paintings revealing the inhabitants of Bizanos, the railwaymen, the lavandians, the priest before the bell of their church. A typical realism of the art of the 1930 s, which this church offers a good example.
