ANIMAL PARK AND REFUGE PARC'OURS
A park where you can discover some twenty wild and domestic species, including the famous brown bears
The park's history began in 1971 with the discovery of Jojo the bear cub by children from a summer camp at the PEP de Borce social center. This led to the creation of the Espace Animalier in the 2000s, which was then taken over by former employees to become the Parc'Ours association. What a story! The park is home to some twenty wild and domestic species, including the famous brown bears! But also ibexes, marmots and even isards. The park is also an animal refuge, where you can observe animals from our homes that have been abandoned and taken in by the park, such as donkeys, goats and rabbits. Spread over 7 hectares of nature in the heart of the Pyrenees National Park, the association works to renew and maintain the human-animal bond, whether wild or domestic. Educational activities are carried out in the park, with different zones for learning about Pyrenean flora and fauna (projects are underway for new zones such as a biodiversity zone and an educational apiary). Various activities are organized within the park: bear feeding in summer, sessions to learn how to recognize birds of prey or animal footprints, and various other workshops are offered throughout the year, through theme days with the collaboration of speakers on varied and topical subjects such as beekeeping, pastoralism, shearing, botany...
