THE COVERED ALLEY OF THE LITTLE OLD PENNY
This covered walkway, classified in historic monuments, is part of these megalithic tombs, as there are some in the region. This one, located near the Old Little Penny farm on the route of Saint-Mars-sur-Colmont, is considered the most beautiful of its kind. Dating back to nearly 2 400 years before our age, this monument is 11 m long and consists of twenty-five vertical shaped pillars and covered with a dozen tiles. The whole is surrounded by stone cairns. It is said that this driveway is "lateral entrance" because of the position of its opening. This monument was excavated and restored from 1978 to 1982 by the archaeologist Roger Bouillon, native of Mayenne and who specialized in scientific exploration of these covered aisles.
