LE MARCHÉ AUX VEAUX
On Thursday morning, at Parc Saint-Fiacre, one of the largest markets for European calves is held. More than a thousand calves, breeding or fattening, are traded each week in this cradle of the Maine-Anjou race, AOC Rouge des Prés. A free guided tour is organized, by appointment from (register at the tourist office). The transactions start at 8 a. m. sharp, in a agitation and an amazing atmosphere. Although declining, the sheep market remains the largest in the West. During the last 15 days of August, the fairground welcomes the Saint-Fiacre carnival.
The food market also takes place on Thursday morning in downtown.
