It was built in 1098 by the hermit Robert of Arbrissel. This was the first abbey of the order of the canons regular, before Fontevraud. In the Middle Ages, it was the most important of the abbeys of the Mayennais territory. The abbey church has preserved a beautiful th century Romanesque façade, a vaulted nave in cradle as well as an aristocratic arch at the crossroads of transepts. These places are truly of great beauty.
