LANCELOT AU PAYS DE LASSAY

Departing from the town hall, this 6.5 km loop takes you into the world of the knights of the round table and the most famous of them all: Lancelot du Lac. Chrétien de Troyes, the author of this story is said to have been inspired by the character of the hermit Saint Fraimbault (Frambaldus de Laceio, the "spear-bearer of the lake"), evangelizer of the Passais who lived in Lassay. The route Monts et Marches "Lancelot au Pays de Lassay" is marked in red. The itinerary takes us on a quest for the knight: his childhood at the bottom of a lake with the fairy Viviane and you will learn how Lancelot became a model for the lords of the time, discover his life of wandering from one castle to another, his fight against the dragon and the superhuman trials he had to face in the heart of the forest to conquer his beauty, the love songs to Queen Guinevere that he composed? The circuit, is marked out with 7 (small tour) or 9 (big tour) fixed, sound and artistic stages on the theme of the legend of Lancelot. This path also crosses the three castles of the commune of Lassay. While on the round table of the Château de Bois-Thibault a comic strip retraces in 24 steps the history of Lancelot du Lac, in the forest, sculptures provide a few surprises...
