THE CHATEAU DE LASSAY
This magnificent medieval fortress is in a perfect state of preservation
A real fairy-tale castle! This magnificent medieval fortress (15th century) is in a perfect state of preservation. A first work was demolished around 1423, during the Hundred Years War, so that it would not fall into the hands of the English invaders. The present castle, built in only one year, dates from 1458. It is one of the best preserved in France with its eight massive towers, its ramparts with battlements and machicolation, and its barbican protecting the drawbridge. This jewel is a private property which is sometimes open to the public.
